Obtain an NPI
What is an NPI?
A National Provider Identifier, or NPI, is a unique identification number assigned to healthcare providers in the U.S. used for billing and administrative purposes. It is essential for health insurance transactions and is required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
All providers must have a NPI to be credentialed.
What if I already have an NPI?
If you already have an active NPI, you can bypass this step! Your NPI is unique to you and does not vary by employer. No further action is needed.
How do I obtain an NPI?
If you do not have an active NPI, follow along with our NPI Training to obtain one!
Frequently Asked Questions:
What address should my NPI be associated with?
Since your NPI is unique to you and does not vary by employer, the address associated with your NPI can be your home address. Or, if you’d prefer your home address not be publicly available, you can list Nourish’s address: 3724 Jefferson St, Suite 104, Austin, TX 78731.
How long does it take for my NPI to process?
Your NPI may be posted instantaneously! If not, it often takes just a few days to process, so please check status on the NPI website often.
Can I proceed to the other onboarding tasks while my NPI is pending?
If you don’t yet have a CAQH account, feel free to begin creating one. You’ll be prevented from applying for a Texas license and completing your CAQH profile without an NPI, but processing should take no more than a few days at most.
