Overview

We use Slack to organize our vibrant community of dietitians willing to share best practices, tips and tricks on navigating the Nourish platform, and clinical expertise.

We are all responsible for making this a safe space. With that in mind, here’s a quick guide on how to take full advantage of the Nourish RD Slack Community.

Nourish Community Guidelines

Nourish’s community guidelines apply to all interactions in Nourish’s community, whether office hours, CRCs, or Slack.

  1. Adhere to the Nourish Clinical Philosophy

  2. Demonstrate professionalism

    1. There is a diversity of opinion, experience, and expertise at Nourish. It is more than okay to disagree, but always be sure to communicate in a respectful way. Be kind and courteous to others and assume positive intent.

  3. Practice rigorous, evidence-based care

    1. Misinformation is rampant in the nutrition world. Dietitians are in a powerful position and have a responsibility to follow the research and help patients and each other separate fact from fiction. When sharing information with our community, be clear about the sources of the information you share. Examples:

      1. Health Authority - The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends…

      2. Research Study - The REDUCE-IT Trial [manuscript linked] published in 2018, evaluated the effects…

      3. Anecdotal - It has been my experience that patients don’t like the fishy taste of that supplement and…

  4. Maintain privacy and compliance

    1. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA — do not share PHI.

Please embrace these principles whenever you interact with anyone in the community:

  • Be respectful.

  • Be kind.

  • Be active.

  • Be curious.

  • Be open.

  • Be inclusive.

Slack interactions will be moderated based on Nourish’s Community Guidelines. Repeated violations may be grounds for removal from the Nourish platform.

Additional guidelines:

  • Slack IS NOT PHI friendly - when referencing a patient in Slack, use their Healthie ID.

  • You can customize your sidebar to ensure you are seeing what is most relevant to you!

  • Make sure to use threads when speaking in channels so that we can stay organized!

  • You can edit and delete your messages!

  • @here and @channel notify everyone on Slack, so please use sparingly.
