Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance (STD)
Short Term Disability (STD) insurance is designed to provide financial support in the event you are unable to work due to a temporary illness, injury, or other qualifying medical conditions.
Please note that our STD policy is voluntary, and participation is not automatic—you must opt in to take advantage of this benefit.
Highlights of the Short Term Disability Plan:
Provider: Our voluntary STD policy is provided by MetLife.
Voluntary Enrollment: Participation in the Short Term Disability policy is voluntary. Full-Time employees interested in enrolling must opt in during the open enrollment period or following a qualifying life event.
Coverage Duration: The STD policy typically covers eligible employees for up to 26 weeks, depending on specific circumstances.
Benefit Amount: 60% of pre-disability earnings, up to $1,000 per week.
Cost: $0.176 per $10 covered benefit.
Waiting Period: Seven workdays must pass prior to STD benefits being paid. You may use PTO during the waiting period as wage replacement.
Eligibility: This benefit is available to all Full-Time employees.
How to Enroll:
Voluntary STD offers two enrollment opportunities:
At the time of hire or when you become eligible for benefits, you will have 30 days to enroll in the voluntary STD online in Justworks.
If you’d like to sign up after the 30-day window has closed, you can contact our support team at 1-888-534-1711 or support@justworks.com and request a paper enrollment. Enrolling outside the 30-day online window requires a statement of health to be completed, and your application is subject to rejection by our provider, MetLife. If you enroll within the 30-day window, you will be automatically approved for coverage.
