Tips to Grow Your Caseload
As you get started and continue with Nourish, there may be moments when you'd like to take on more clients. Several factors impact your caseload, and we're here to assist you in optimizing your profile and settings to help you attract more bookings. While not every tip below may be relevant or preferred, using a combination of them will certainly support the growth of your client base!
As a reminder, full-time employees are required to maintain an average caseload of 15 sessions per week. There are no minimum, or maximum, weekly session limits for part-time employees. If you have questions regarding your employment status, please direct them to people@usenourish.com.
Take the time to create a polished provider profile.
A well-crafted provider bio boosts your bookings. Be sure to thoughtfully complete all bio fields, including About, Approach to Care, What to Expect in Your First Session, Education, Hobbies, and Post-nominals. Read more on writing a high-quality provider bio here!
A high-quality, professional headshot builds your credibility and helps prospective patients feel an instant connection. You can find tips for taking and choosing your provider headshot here.
Although recording a provider intro video takes time, it's definitely worth the effort! Patients are more likely to book sessions with providers who have a video on their profile. Here are some tips and best practices for creating your provider video.
Select specialties that align with your clinical experience and expertise.
Prospective patients will be matched with you based on the specialties you choose and the star rating you assign. Two-star specialties are given priority in our scheduling algorithm, so we highly recommend selecting at least three two-star specialties. General Health should always be selected as a two-star specialty, as this is most commonly selected by patients. For specialties you're comfortable with but aren't yet an expert in, we suggest selecting them as one-star.

Optimize your schedule management preferences.
Your schedule management preferences determine when patients can book sessions with you. Below are some tips to help you adjust your settings to optimize bookings.
Caseload Goal: Set the number of sessions you wish to hold each week. Please note: We may schedule 1-2 sessions above your caseload goal each week to account for cancellations and no shows.
Allow new initial appointments: Make sure this is toggled to allow new initial appointments to enable new bookings!
Minimum initial appointment booking window: Select your desired booking window for initial sessions. "0" allows initial sessions to be scheduled up to 2 hours in advance. "1" allows next-day initial sessions. A shorter booking window can help increase bookings, as many patients prefer to schedule on short notice.
Maximum initial appointments per day: Select the maximum number of initial sessions you wish to be scheduled in a single day. The more initial appointments you allow per day, the quicker your caseload will grow!
Increase your availability.
It's recommended to have enough availability to schedule at least 20% more appointments than your target caseload, accounting for cancellations and no-shows. Providers with the most consistent schedules usually maintain at least 50% more availability than their caseload goal.
For example, if your goal is to have 20 sessions per week, you should have 30+ hours of availability and 24 sessions scheduled for the week. The more availability you have, the more room there is to schedule initial, follow up, and rescheduled sessions!
Expand your state licensure.
At present, Nourish reimburses for all "red" state licensure (where specific licensure is required to treat patients in that state). Expanding your licensure in these "red" states is an excellent opportunity to grow your caseload by addressing unmet patient demand. By doing so, you'll also play a vital role in increasing access to care!
You can find more details on state-specific licensure requirements and our licensure reimbursement policy below.
Schedule weekly, recurring sessions.
Best practice is to schedule weekly, recurring sessions for the first 8 weeks. The most favorable clinical outcomes are typically seen after 12 sessions. By retaining patients and scheduling regular weekly appointments, you can maintain a more consistent schedule while also offering patients continuity and progress.
Market yourself!
While it's not expected that you bring patients to Nourish, by doing so, you'll benefit from our patient referral bonus - a 25% session rate increase for each and every session a referred patient has with you or a fellow Nourish RD!
